before ,when you want edit dimensions for your sketches,you need enter the Edit Dimension dialogue box, like the picture show below .if you just enter a numerical value - Inventor will create a parametric value and list it in the parameters dialogue.

now in autodesk inventor 2011,it can be created and edited automatically.i have made a video.show you how i do it.

Although Autodesk key role is the support of digital prototyping and reducing the number of physical prototypes. It is evident that some models / prototype still need to be developed to make the concept to reality work faster.

Autodesk has in built capabilities to support 3D Printing of part models that are developed within Autodesk Inventor 2011

A 3D printing device can print a rapid prototype from an Inventor part or assembly file. The part or assembly file is saved to a format that is compatible with the 3D printer.

The Send to 3D Print Service dialog box guides you through the workflow. You set up the model in the graphics area, create the required export file, and send it to a 3D printer.

If you need to get a thumbnail image from an Inventor document there are several possibilities. I want to briefly cover those here.

Thumbnail as an iProperty
The thumbnail is stored as an iProperty within an Inventor document. One way to access the thumbnail is as an iProperty. The following VBA code accesses the thumbnail as an iProperty and writes it as a bmp file to disk. (This code won’t work on a 64-bit Inventor because of the issues discussed in this post.)

autodesk inventor 2011 now come.it has a new feature about its project file version.

Each time you save an Autodesk Inventor file, the previous version of the file is stored in an OldVersions folder under the folder containing the file.

You can specify how many versions of each file are stored in the OldVersions folder.

1. Expand Options.
2. Select Old Versions To Keep On Save.
3. Click the Edit selected item button (on the right-hand portion of the dialog box).
4. Enter the number of versions to keep.
